In Summary
Saturday evening 19/8, I booked a simple cabin whilst in palmerston north, Palmerston North Holiday camp.
I paid, collected my key and placed my bags in the room prior to going out for dinner
On my return at around 9.00pm, my key would not unlock the door ,and as such phoned the manager
He arrived with the master key, and again, could not operate the lock.
At this point he became overly hostile and made the strange accusation that I had double locked the door somehow.
He demanded that I pay the locksmith fees as the cost would exceed the cost of room rental. Clearly I said No.
He then implied that nothing else could be done and at this point. My property was in the room, and I should leave. again full hostility.
I told him, I will break in to retrieve my belongings.
Following more aggression, He then left, demanded I leave and he was off to retrieve a crowbar..
Taking this as a threat, naturally the police were called.
In time our man returned , Jimmied off the window lock,
I retrieved my belongings ( all this whilst under verbal attack)
He demanded I leave , which I willfully did, and found proper accommodation elsewhere.

Here is where we now sit.

I continue to communicate with police and a file is open
I have seen such behavior, once before, and in that case, when the subject was under the influence of Methamphetamine, and I recognize the same traits here. I suggest you confirm this is not the case
The door lock. We have a situation, where the door locks fitted,( assuming they are not faulty) , when locked, would trap a person inside in event of a fire, or inaccessible in event of an emergency. I will contact the organisation charged with Motel standards and request they do a safety audit on this property , as clearly it is below standard
